Abstract
The conventional production line of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) is long and the columnar grains in the cast slabs have adverse effects on GOES. In this paper, the short preparation process for GOES using top side-pouring twin-roll strip casting (TSTRC) was investigated. The results show that TSTRC can prepare cast strips with equiaxed grains. Conventional slab reheating, hot rolling, and normalization can be eliminated. The origin of Goss grains and the preparation of inhibitors were studied.
