Abstract

In this study, a novel highly overlapping time technology (HOTT) that uses the velocity blending method is proposed to generate interpolated trajectories for motion control. This technique uses overlapping time to blend the velocities between short line segments. To ensure that the acceleration constraints and corner tolerance are satisfied, HOTT provides a systematic algorithm with derived equations to adjust the overlapping time. Compared with a finite impulse response approach, HOTT achieves higher feedrates, lower tolerance, and maximum acceleration. Simulation and experimental results reveal that HOTT yields a shorter cycle time and higher contour accuracy.
