Abstract

AbstractRecently, the delegation of signing capacity has become a common practice to develop applications like distributed computing, grid computing, mobile agents, mobile communication, etc. The method of proxy signing, introduced by Mambo et al, is the tool of such delegation. In 2003, Gentry introduced the paradigm of certificate‐based encryption to remove the key escrow problem in identity‐based public key cryptography (PKC) and to combine the merits of PKC and identity‐based PKC. This article presents an efficient and short provably secure certificate‐based proxy signature scheme from pairing over elliptic curves. The aim is to devise a method of delegation with less space and low‐bandwidth requirement. Through efficiency comparison with existing efficient proxy signature schemes, we show that our scheme is the most appealing for low‐bandwidth communication channels applied for wireless communication, online transactions, e‐bookings, mobile agents, etc.
