Abstract

H-slot truncated patch is designed to excite a circularly polarized short backfire antenna (SBA). The novel design of SBA contain H-shaped slot with truncated patch fed by single feed probe. It also consists of parasitic circular ring at the height of sub-reflector. It is demonstrated that H-shaped slot truncated patch can achieve a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) bandwidth of 4.0% (VSWR < −10dB) with a axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 7.71% (≤ 3dB) and a gain of 14.3 dBi. The structure of antenna is explained and the simulation results are obtained at 2.4 GHz.
