Abstract

Several patches are available on the market to perform carotid endarterectomy (CE) with angioplasty, including prosthetic and biological patches; among these, pericardial patches are relatively recent. In spite of the growing use of biological patches, few data are available in the literature comparing the results of these two types of patches. The aim of this study was to compare the short and long term results of bovine pericardium (BP) and prosthetic patches (PP) used for carotid endarterectomy.
