Short and long term effects of fluoride-removing material combined with Beyond cold light whitening on bleaching dental fluorosis

Abstract

Objective To investigate the short and long term effects of fluoride-removing material combined with Beyond cold light whitening in the treatment of bleaching dental fluorosis, so as to improve long-term whitening effect of bleaching dental fluorosis. Methods Forty-five patients(225 teeth) with bleaching dental fluorosis were randomly divided into 3 groups, 15 patients (75 teeth) in a group, group A underwent fluoride-removing material therapy, group B underwent Beyond cold light whitening therapy, while group C underwent fluoride-removing material combined with Beyond cold light whitening. Before treatment, immediately and after 6 months of treatment used the VITA shade to evaluat teeth whitening effect. Results After 6 months of treatment, the shade value improvement and the total efficiency in group C was the highest respectively, followed by group B, the lowest in group A, the differences were statistically significant(P 0.05). Conclusions Fluoride-removing material combined with Beyond cold light whitening in the treatment of bleaching dental fluorosis has the same immediate whitening effect with single therapy, but long-term whitening effect is better than any single therapy, and it can reduce re-coloring rate, fluoride-removing material and Beyond cold light whitening should be in combination to improve the long-term whitening effect of bleaching dental fluorosis.
