Abstract

[Abstract] A Total Energy Spectrum based on the maximum total energy of the single D.O.F model was proposed in order to estimate the damage potential of structures subjected to pyroshock loadings. The indicators of the structural damage proposed in the past studies were introduced, and their aptitude for the indicator was discussed from the viewpoints of the impact fracture mechanics. Based on the discussion, the maximum total energy of the single D.O.F model consisting of the kinetic energy and the strain energy was proposed as the suitable indicator of the damage potential of structures, and the Total Energy Spectrum was derived from it. By conducting a hammering test and a shock test using a shaking table, the differences of the evaluation results given by the Total Energy Spectrum and other response spectrums proposed in the past studies were presented.
