Abstract
Dr. Patricia Henwood: Today's case is that of a 68-year-old woman with recent abdominal surgery who presented to the Emergency Department (ED) in transfer from an outside hospital with the chief complaint of altered mental status and acute renal failure. The patient reported decreased intake by mouth and no urination over the last 2 days and no bowel movements since the day prior to her abdominal surgery, which had been 1 week ago.
