Abstract
Shimshon Gottesfeld has had a long and distinguished career in electrochemistry, and his work has been the foundation for modern PEM fuel cell development. He has also lead the initiate to establish a Gordon Research Conference on Fuel Cells and chaired the first conference in 1999. My talk will focus on his early work in electrochemistry and how it transformed the understanding and development of PEM fuel cells, and how it impacted the early work we did not high temperature membrane fuel cells. And, I will also describe the culture of the early Fuel Cell GRCs, which has left an indelible mark on memories of many of us.
