Abstract

Future (e, ép) experiments will be able to provide response functions from individual shells of nuclei. Extending previous work on the inclusive response, we evaluate longitudinal and transverse response functions for electon scattering from the 1 s 1 2 and 1 p 3 2 shells of 12C in the framework of the relativistic σωϱ model, with correlations included in random-phase approximation. We find different strength of correlations for the individual shells. We expect these features not to change much by distortions which are not included in the present calculation.
