Abstract
The potential energy surface for superheavy nucleus has beenstudied within the framework of the constrained relativistic meanfield theory, and the shell correction energy as a function ofdeformation has been extracted by the Strutinsky shell correctionprocedure. Contrary to the usual expectation, the shellcorrection energy at the saddle point is too important to beneglected, and it has essential contribution to the fissionbarrier in superheavy nucleus.
