Abstract

In spite of improved accessibility of ART to parenthood in some parts of the world, sexual minority individuals still face significant psychosocial barriers in actualising their desire to become parents. Having internalized negative beliefs about homosexuals and lacking social support from LGBT communities are detrimental to the mental well-being of sexual minority individuals. However, little is known whether these factors influence gay and bisexual men’s decision to parent. The study addressed how internalized homophobia, minority stress, and connectedness with the LGBT community influenced Taiwanese gay and bisexual men’s desire for and preferred timing of parenthood?
