Abstract
This chapter contains the study outcome for sheath bonding of ac transmission cable systems. It comes from Technical Brochure 797 prepared by WG B1.50 and published in March 2020. The WG B1.50 was convened by T.ZHAO from the USA, The Technical lBrochure 797 (TB) incorporates design, testing (including after installation testing), and maintenance of these sheath bonding systems. Sheath bonding is required for all cable systems to ensure an effective bond to earth of the cable system metal sheath, armoring, and semi-conductive outer sheath covering. Incorrectly performed sheath bonding systems may lead to cable system failures or pose a human safety risk. Sheath bonding systems for the purpose of this chapter include related cable system components and equipment that are connected to form the required ac cable system sheath, armoring, and semi-conductive outer sheath bond and connection to earth.
