Abstract

The ability of two-dimensional finite element programmes to predict the intensity and distribution of vertical shear stresses in labs in the post elastic range and procedure adopted in this regard was discussed by the author in reference (1). Since the coupling slabs of the shear wall structures subjected to lateral loads due to wind etc. are very different from the cannon slabs, the theoretical magnitude and distribution of shear in these slabs is discussed in this paper with particular emphasis; the special area of interest being the v wall-slab connection.
