Abstract

This paper, investigates the dispersion characteristics of shear horizontal (SH) surface waves propagating in a piezoelectric (PE) layer imperfectly bonded on a piezomagnetic (PM) half-space. Both the layer and half-space possess the hexagonal symmetry. The so-called shear-lag model is used to describe the interfacial property. The surface of the PE layer is traction-free, electrically closed and magnetically open. The explicit dispersion equation is derived. The phase velocities are calculated to show the influences of the interfacial imperfection and the material properties of PE layers on the dispersive characteristics. The results show that: (1) The imperfect bonding lowers the propagation velocity; (2) The larger the B-G wave velocity of a piezoelectric layer, the larger the phase velocity of SH surface wave propagating in the corresponding layered half-space.
