Abstract

Nine tests were conducted on 1220mm deep T-beams strengthened in shear using Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strips and CFRP anchors. The use of anchors resulted in most CFRP strips reaching fracture, but not simultaneously. The shear contribution of FRP was larger in beams with less transverse steel reinforcement. Because CFRP and steel reinforcement have different material and bond properties, interactions between the two materials need to be taken into account when determining the shear capacity of a strengthened member.
