Abstract

The purpose of this note is to present the governing nonlinear equation applicable for the large amplitude free, flexural vibration of orthotropic rectangular plates influenced by the transverse shear and rotatory inertia effects and to present numerical solutions to isotropic and orthotropic rectangular plates clamped along all the edges. The method of analysis suggested here requires the assumption of only the mode shape for w and is based on the stress function approach and Galerkin's method.
