Abstract

Abstract We investigate distinguishing characteristics of lepton + jet events arising from W → t b production with t→blν decay at p p colliders. In two-jet events transverse masses have joint jacobian peaks just below and above m t associated with the t and b fragments and just below M W associated with the t b cluster. The lepton + one-jet events of W → t b origin also give distributions with striking features. Other useful diagnostics for t quark identification are presented, including those of t t hadroproduction
