Abstract

WebOrama is a Web‐based system that provides a platform for creating, managing, and sharing representations of practice in the form of asynchronous multimedia annotations. It has been used within the “SHARP” project for the support of co‐ordinated, asynchronous discussions which emanate from a video representation of the industry’s best practice. These discussions serve as a medium for the exchange of tacit, experience‐based knowledge among a community of practitioners and, also, facilitate learners in the acquisition of complex skills applicable to real‐world working contexts. WebOrama utilises an innovative algorithm for dynamic filtering of annotations in order to provide an adaptive and customisable representation of content, personalised for a particular user‐group’s perspective. This paper presents the requirements definition and the design of WebOrama.
