Abstract

Fluctuating gonadal hormone levels are thought to contribute to the higher prevalence of major depressive disorder (MDD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among women, and risk for these disorders may be modulated by exogenous versions of these hormones – in birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy.
