Abstract

The pivotal role of ultrasound (US) in OB/GYN (Obstetric/Gynecological) practice is indisputable. Ultrasound is not merely a tool in the diagnostic process but a powerful asset in patient management and treatment monitoring. The influence of ultrasound extends from prenatal screening and fetal anomaly detection to the diagnosis of multifaceted gynecological disorders, continually reshaping the landscape of women's health and enhancing patient care. However, harnessing the full potential of ultrasound in OB/GYN practice goes beyond the technological capability of the equipment itself. Unraveling the fine details and complexities inherent in US images demands a level of expertise and precision that can only be achieved through structured, comprehensive, and immersive training. Despite the clear need, the optimal strategy for implementing OB/GYN US training remains a complex puzzle with multiple influencing factors. It is therefore crucial that we strive for an approach that is flexible, inclusive, and adaptive. In this opinion piece, we delve into our perspective on shaping the future of OB/GYN ultrasound training. Our vision is not simply about improving the existing pedagogical methodologies, but more importantly, about fostering an environment of ongoing learning that can seamlessly adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of medical technology and research. We aim to dissect the challenges, highlight the opportunities, and propose strategic solutions in a bid to refine and enhance this critical aspect of OB/GYN education.
