Abstract
Authors from NIST bring us up to date on the role of shape selective phases in HPLC. Difficult-to-separate compounds such as geometric isomers, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, and certain fat-soluble vitamins can be separated on alkylsilane chromatography phases depending on ligand density, chain length, and column temperature. Their laboratory investigated various monomeric and polymeric silane phases using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques as well molecular modeling.
