Abstract

The microstructure, phase transformation, mechanical properties and shape memory effect of Ti–19.5Zr–10Nb–0.5Fe alloy have been investigated. Ti–19.5Zr–10Nb–0.5Fe alloy is mainly composed of orthorhombic α″-Martensite as well as a small amount of β phase. The alloy exhibits a two-stage yielding in tension with a tensile strain of 21%. The corresponding maximum shape memory strain is as large as 4.1%, associated with a reverse martensitic transformation occurring at 429 K.
