Abstract

Optical properties of silver nanowires (AgNWs), whose morphologies were controlled by varying seed materials and synthesis conditions, have been studied extensively. In this study, a microwave polyol method was used for the synthesis of AgNWs. It was found that the aspect ratio of AgNWs varied depending on the seed material and synthesis time. The aspect ratio when Pt was used as the seed material was relatively higher than that when Cu was used, as demonstrated by the observation of surface plasmon resonances (SPRs). In addition, centrifugation was used to filter out zero‐dimensional (0‐D) silver nanoparticles, in order to separate AgNWs that are ideal for transparent conducting films. The number of 0‐D type particles decreased after repeated centrifugation, resulting in the blue shift of the main peak in the SPR absorbance and a decrease in the SPR peak height at 410 nm.
