Abstract

Statically determinate designs are free of thermal stress, their assembly is possible with small efforts and static shape control by changing members length with small forces is available. For these reasons large statically determinate structures can be proposed as promising candidates for various space projects. Large one-dimensional linear, axially-symmetrical, and two-dimensional statically determinate controllable structures are developed and analyzed. Kinematic waves arising during static shape control are found and described. Algorithms of shape control are proposed.
