Abstract

In this work the electrical conductivity anisotropy of the anisometric micelles in lyotropic nematic-calamitic and nematic-discotic mesophases for three mutually perpendicular directions has been investigated. Method of the compulsory orientation in the shear flow has been used. Mesophase types have been identified by observation of characteristic textures using the polarizing optical microscopy and by orientational behavior of micelles in external magnetic field. Estimates of the size and anisotropy of the rod-like and the disc-like micelles for N C and N D mesophases have been carried out.
