Abstract

Nano-scale molecular interactions of proteins and lipids at the plasma membrane of cells drive cellular reorganisation and initiation of signalling in countless biological scenarios. We need to visualise the underlying dynamic bio-molecular organisation to better understand how large-scale morphological changes and cellular interactions evolve and are regulated. Fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy (FFS) approaches represent a uniquely suited set of tools offering a window into single molecule diffusion, transport, and oligomerisation events.
