Sexuality of older adults and the Internet: From sex education to cybersex

Abstract

Myths and stereotypes of older adults and sexuality are pervasive in nearly every aspect of our society. However, the Internet has provided older adults a venue for expressing, experimenting, and challenging the popular idea that they are asexual and uninterested and incapable of being sexual. Older adults are one of the fastest growing groups of Internet surfers and they are using the net in various ways to enhance their sexual identities and experiences. A review of available literature will document both the virtues and the vices of sexuality on the Internet for older adults.
