Abstract

Objectives The authors dealing with G.I.D. since 1983, active members of national and world associations in the field (O.N.I.G. and W.P.A.T.H.) wanted : • to assess the outcome of S.R.S. in G.I.D. subjects especially in relation with the quality of sexual life • to compare G.I.D. subjects with a control group about the quality of their sexual life. Materials and methods The study sample: 50 G.I.D. subjects (25 MtF and 25 FtM) at least two years after SRS; control group: 30 subjects without G.I.D. The study was based on: • Clinical data • WHOQOL-100 (World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire) • A questionnaire, drafted by the authors, for sexuality follow up after SRS Results We compare different clusters of features and behaviours among specific subgroups: core+ /-, disruptive background, psychiatric comorbidity, sexuality characteristics. Statistically significant results will be shown. Our results suggest a positive outcome of SRS on the Quality of Life, and an improvement in quality of sexual life, with some differences between transmen and transwomen. Conclusion According to very few studies about sexuality in transmen and transwomen, our results seem to be encouraging. We underline not only the importance of diagnostic methods and criteria, but also of follow-up research.
