Abstract

RESULTS Sexual development /first date, first kiss, first falling in love, first serious relationship, experience with necking, petting and intercourse/ Female CF patients do not seem to differ from healthy females, except for first kissing, which happens slightly later. Male CF patients differ in the following parameters: A higher proportion of CF patients than of healthy males has no experience with dating, relationships and intercourse. Sexual behaviour Number of sex partners In females, we found a significant difference in the age group 30-44 years, where healthy females mention an average of 8 sex partners while the average for CF patients is only 5. This difference does not show in men. Another significant difference exists in the number of maintained long-term relationships (more than 6 months) for men and women in the age group 18-29 years, where CF patients reach an average of 2 partners compared to 3 in the healthy population. Sexual need A larger proportion of women with CF than of their healthy peers admits to feel a need for sex, nevertheless they feel this need less often on average. As to men, twice as many CF patients as their healthy peers (36% compared to 17%) do not feel any sexual need. A much greater proportion also lack any ways of sexual outlet (27% compared to 9%). Masturbation The proportion of females with masturbation experience seems to be higher in the CF population, much like the proportion of currently masturbating women (51% compared to 38%). Nevertheless, CF females seem to masturbate less frequently (4x per month compared to 8x for healthy women). Male CF patients mention less past experience with masturbation, but do not differ from healthy Czech males in present masturbation prevalence and frequency. Orgasm In comparison with healthy females, CF patients less frequently reach orgasm during partner activities, although they climax more often during masturbation. At the same time, CF females fake orgasm less frequently. Male CF patients do not seem to differ from their healthy peers in this respect. Contraception In comparison with healthy women, more female CF patients have used contraception at their first intercourse and with casual sex partners, while less use contraception with steady partners. The proportion of male CF patients that use contraception (including condoms) is lower than in the normal male population.
