Abstract

In order to assess young people's views on the best way to target and provide sexual health services within the Southern Health and Social Services Board area of Northern Ireland, qualitative research using six focus groups of young people was carried out. Young people who participated in the six groups identified common barriers to the uptake of sexual health services, and also specific local obstacles. They highlighted the need for specific young-person- centred sexual health services that are accessible, acceptable and sensitive to their particular needs. Any future sexual health services commissioned by the Board should take account of the findings of this research.
