Abstract

Background: The repair of a cloacal anomaly involves complex decisions with the goal to achieve sexual, menstrual, and obstetric function, and urinary and bowel control. Little research exists regarding long-term gynecologic outcomes. This qualitative study was conducted to assess the perceived sexual and reproductive health challenges of patients born with cloacal anomalies and to characterize the experiences of these patients as adults.
