Abstract

Abstract Traditionally, Russian has distinct masculine and feminine forms for nouns that can refer both to men and to women, in much the same way as it has separate masculine and feminine adjectives, the main difference being that with adjectives the distinction is shown by inflection (declension), whereas with nouns it is shown by derivation, the latter being less regular in formation.
