Abstract

Purpose: It is widely accepted that sex differences in prevalence, severity, pain, and mental health are present in patients with idiopathic knee OA. However, it is unknown if sex differences are also present in patients with PTOA or if treatment utilization changes between sexes. Given these distinct differences between PTOA and OA patients it is important to identify if there are sex differences in clinical comorbidities and treatment utilization for patients with PTOA. The purpose of this study was to describe the differences in medical comorbidity prevalence and treatment utilization between sexes in patients with post-traumatic knee osteoarthritis.
