Abstract

In the past 10 years the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary (University ofCordoba, Spain) and the National Association of Spanish Horse Breeders (ANCCE) have receivedmany cases of horses, males and females from Pure Spanish Breed (PRE), with reproductive problems.As a result of an interdepartmental cooperation already exists in our Faculty, all of them have beenstudied from the cytogenetic point of view and we have found the following chromosomalabnormalities: 63,X0; 63 X0/64,XX; 63,X0/64,XY; 63,X0/64,XX/64,XY; 63,X0/64, XX/64,XY/65,XXX; 64,XX/64,XY; 65,XXX; 64,XX male sex reversal, 64,XY female sex reversal. The reproductivephenotype has varied from a normal female to normal male different reproductive manifestationsthrough intersex and specific cases of reversal sex, both males and females.
