Severe Maternal Morbidity in Scotland

Abstract

(Anaesthesia. 2022;77:971–980) The rate of maternal mortality in the United Kingdom is at its lowest in history. Studying severe maternal morbidity may give insights into how to further reduce both mortality and morbidity in pregnancy and childbirth. This study aimed to report on the incidence of severe maternal morbidity in the United Kingdom, and associated risk factors, by creating a composite measure of maternal morbidity.
