Abstract
• Absolute MPTP dose differed with acute recovery versus severe acute neurotoxicity. • Body weight and mean brain volume did not differ across outcome groups. • Absolute, over weight-based, dose improves risk estimation of severe neurotoxicity. • Histopathology supports neurotoxicity at higher absolute MPTP doses. • Absolute MPTP dose should be used for intra-carotid MPTP in non-human primates.
