Abstract
A new optimal velocity (OV) model called “close-packing OV” model which is based on Bando's OV model is proposed and it is compared with Bando's OV model. By simulation on a circuit with one signal, we have known several phases (”middle jam phases” and “super jam phases”) in jam region using Bando's OV model. Especially in the “middle jam phases”, motion of cars from a signal at each green light interval repeats periodically, for example, local free flow, local free flow and local conjested flow. On the other hand, the “close-packing OV” model only show the super jam phase.
