Abstract

There are a number of preventative measures and corrective actions that could be implemented to improve the power factor and keep it at an optimal value. The power factor of a plant changes, depending on the variation of the inductive load and the number of electrical units operating at a time. After analysing the power factor issue, a compensation control is designed that can maintain the power factor at a level close to optimal. The system can be introduced to plants with unsatisfactory power factors, reducing the strain on the equipment and improving considerably the efficiency of the power utilization.
