Abstract
AbstractDepigmented skin provides a considerable burden on the patient's daily life, and its management is a common challenge for dermatologists. Due to the well‐known management difficulty, many therapy modalities have been introduced. Both comprehension of the therapies mode of action and understanding of the depigmentation etiopathogenesis are together essential elements in choosing the proper interference. Accordingly seven main strategies are available: immuno‐modulation, melanocytes protection, hastening melanocytes homeostasis, induction of melanocyte precursors, supplying new generations of melanocytes, camouflage, and depigmentation. Systemic administration of medications is preferred for widespread lesions, but topical formulas can be used for localized patches and a combination of several approaches may be required.
