Thermal coagulation therapy controls active bleeding, reduces rebleeding, and reduces short-term mortality in patients with bleeding peptic ulcers that have high-risk stigmata for rebleeding. However, the optimal settings for coagulation probes (electrocautery or heater probes) have not been well studied.
