Abstract

A brief review of papers presented on superheavy atoms is given. Several questions are raised and partial answers are sought among discussions. The nature of anomalous narrow positron peaks in heavy ion collisions at relativistic velocities, and the extreme electric field intensities, supercritical binding, and the spontaneous decay of the QED vacuum in collision systems, are among some of the questions raised. The possibility of crossing atomic with nuclear and particle physics is discussed. (AIP)
