Abstract
As current velocity measurement methods and instrumentation are improved and refined over the years, opportunities for new observations and experiments become possible. Measurements of waves and turbulence represent a historically important and also quickly growing area of study, due partly from advances in current velocity measurement capabilities. The contributions to this session focus on new methods of measuring waves and turbulence and the applications of these measurements in a range of environments. Papers discuss measurements of surface waves and ice, currents and waves in the surf zone, and turbulence measurements in the ocean, lake, and laboratory.
