Abstract
► Roots of Crepis aurea from Tyrolean origin yielded ten costus lactone type guaianolides. ► No hypocretenolides were detectable in the plant material analyzed. ► Hypocretenolides seem indeed to be restricted to the Hypochaeridinae subtribe of the tribe Cichorieae (Asteraceae).
