Abstract

This paper aims at analyzing the professional and Institutional demands of the Social Work at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Espírito Santo, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, through revisiting the data of our master's research (2017) – which was held from interviews with active social workers at the Student Assistance Policy of this Institute – in interface with the analysis of letters and notes produced in the pandemic context (2020) by students and workers from different professional categories. It was theoretically supported by Antunes (2018, 2020), Iamamoto (2015) and Yazbek (2009). We concluded that the qualified professional demand of Social Work differs from the institutional demand at Ifes, then (re)visiting the data contributed to resignify the way of understanding the social work demand, which is not solitary but powerful, because it makes it possible to build alliances with other workers and students who stand and fight for equity and social justice.
