Abstract

The aim of this article is to highlight the importance of, and legal requirements for, regular servicing and routine maintenance of medical equipment in the veterinary practice. Regular servicing will not only ensure that the equipment is ready to be used when needed by veterinary clinical staff (and therefore provide accurate information to aid diagnosis and treatment of patients), but also to guarantee that the animals in the care of a practice and its staff will not be subject to risk from the medical equipment being used. The servicing of medical equipment requires specialist skills and sophisticated test equipment, and this activity should be assigned to professional companies offering these services.
