Abstract

SUMMARYIn just 36 months, Dorset has developed a near comprehensive local service for people with mental handicaps and their families in each of the county's towns and localities. At the same time Coldharbour Hospital, the county's mental handicap hospital, has reduced its size by two thirds. This article describes how the two health authorities involved worked together to achieve this.
