Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the issues of participation of service Tatars on the side of government troops during the E.I. Pugachev uprising of 1773–1775. The reasons for the loyal attitude towards the autocratic power or neutrality of the main part of the service Tatars towards Pugachev’s "rebellion" are determined. The role of the Kazan Admiralty in maintaining order in the villages of service Tatars under its control, in places where timber for ships was being prepared, and in defending Kazan from rebels in the summer of 1774 has been clarified. The merits of a small part of service Tatars who actively participated in the suppression of the uprising are shown. The events on the territory of the Kazan district are considered primarily.
