Abstract
Service learning and volunteering promote civic responsibility and engagement, which have been embraced by students, educational institutions and communities. While service learning has positive impacts on volunteerism, research on service learning in volunteering activities is gradually developing. This chapter reviews the current studies on service learning in volunteering and the implications to encourage further research on this topic. Through a novel case study of service learning in Chinese business events volunteering, the implications of service learning in business events volunteering and different stakeholders’ perspectives are introduced. Volunteering at business events can promote service learning experience, while it requires communication and cooperation between students, educational institutions and communities. For future research, scholars should explore the effective mechanism for facilitating service learning in different types of events volunteering.
