Service design for the destination tourism service ecosystem: a review and extension

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper aims to synthesize two emerging streams of literature in tourism, i.e. service design and destination ecosystem, and develops a conceptual framework for service design for the destination tourism service ecosystem (DTSE). Three core themes revealed from the literature review include service concept, service ecosystem and service process. Based on the thematic findings, we built a two-level nested framework of a DTSE and developed an integrated model for the service design. A case study of Tangbu Village in China was used to expound the practical application of the model. Finally, we propose an agenda for future research.
